Tony Allicino has been a student and practitioner of shamanism since 1997. Over nearly three decades, he has taught workshops at numerous institutions, including LaGuardia Community College/CUNY, The Open Center, Shantigar, Journeys to the Soul, Spirit Hollow, Kirkridge Retreat Center, Easton Mountain, Menla House, Dawn Manor, and Soul Haven NYC.

Tony has studied with leading figures in western shamanism and international indigenous traditions, including Michael Harner, Sandra Ingerman, Tom Cowan, Christina Pratt, Nan Moss, and David Corbin; and globally education with Uncle Angaangao (Greenland), Ailo Gaup (Sami), Bhalo Banstola (Nepal), and indigenous shamans of North and South America. Integrating movement into his practice, he has studied ecstatic dance and movement with Gabrielle Roth, Emilie Conrad, and Alessandra Belloni, as well as Tai Chi, Qigong, and Taoism with Sharon Smith, Dominic Vine, Juan Li, and Mantak Chia.

A graduate of Sandra Ingerman’s Teacher Training Program, he served as a teacher training assistant from 2018–2020, is a Grail Reiki Master, and participant in indigenous Sacred Dances across the United States. Professionally, he created the Center for Complementary and Alternative Health, LaGuardia Community College/CUNY, which he directed from 2005 – 2009, is a member of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies, ShamanicTeachers.com, and the Society of Shamanic Practices (SSP), where he serves as an SSP Shamanism Without Borders Community Leader.

A dedicated community builder, Tony is a a founding member of several local drum circles since 1998, including the New York City Gay Men’s Shamanic Circle and the NY-NJ Shamanic Circle. He is also a founding member of the SSP Northeast, since 2006, which hosts an annual gathering. In 2014, he walked the Camino de Santiago de Compostela across northern Spain to mark his transition to retirement, and in 2019, he co-hosted the “Myths & Mysteries of Sicily: As Above, So Below” tour with Allison Scola of Experience Sicily.

He has interviewed for CUNY-TV’s Study with the Best’s Spirituality in New York City (November 2017), and the John Moir podcast Discover the Sacred in Your City: Insights from a Manhattan Shaman (5/7/2024); and has written articles for the Society for Shamanic Practice Journal, My Way on the Camino de Santiago de Compostela (April 5, 2017) and Shamanism at an Adirondack Camp, SSP Northeast Regional Conference (November 2017).

Based in downtown Manhattan, Tony hosts monthly Shamanic Journey Drum Circles, teaches classes, and maintains a private client practice.
